I am Oma Eguara, educator, researcher and entrepreneur. You are welcome to my website, Eguara Exchange. This is my online hub for knowledge exchange and research impact. I throw in some personal experiences too!
I have been a teacher (off and on) since 1986. I have enjoyed teaching every year group from Early Years (pre-school) right up to Year 11 (16 year olds) and in Further and Higher Education. In FE, I facilitated entrepreneurship education. In HE, I taught as an associate lecturer at a small university in the UK on a Bachelor's degree programme for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Studies. My students were educators and several had Special Educational Needs and Disabilities themselves, hence they were drawn to the field. I have taught locally (UK) and internationally (Nigeria). I am a lifelong learner, so I have a Bachelor’s degree in Science/Biology education (qualified secondary teacher), a Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Education with Mathematics, UK Qualified Teacher Status, a Master’s degree in Special & Additional Learning Needs and a PhD in E-Research and Technology-Enhanced Learning. In addition to this, I have diplomas and certificates in several fields including coaching and mentoring, and I continue to study in line with my evolving interests.
I love investigating whatever intrigues me in the field of education. And not just investigating, but solving problems and sharing solutions. This is why I became a researcher in addition to being a teacher. I want to help make teaching and learning more effective, make a positive impact on lives and help make the world a better place. Through this website and my various outreaches, I engage in knowledge exchange with education stakeholders, partnering in the exchange of insights and solutions from research and from the field. I am also involved in educational consultancy and edtech social enterprise.
Through my work as a teacher, researcher, consultant and entrepreneur, I champion equality, equity, diversity and inclusion. In whatever way possible, I seek to bring about fairness, equal access and opportunity, especially for underserved populations. This is reflected in my research, advocacy and community work. It informs my interests in Inclusion, Special & Additional Learning Needs and Disabilities and emancipatory pedagogy. It drives my work in social enterprise.
